This building was the headquarters of Casino Castellarenc, which, although it was opened in Major Street in 1888, operated in this building from 1892 to 1958, hence its name.
The association, which still exists today and remains the oldest one in the municipality, was founded by farmers who couldn't go to work on rainy days and made this their meeting place. Reading the press, listening to football matches on the entity's radio, playing cards, holding talks and forming drama groups were some of the main activities during the early years.
It's currently a building that houses different municipal services, including Culture and Education, and it's also the meeting point for Casa Lila and the Viu Autisme association.
As for culture, the Sala Rosa, which, although it has been restored, retains its original appearance with its characteristic wood, is a venue where different cultural activities are held, including theatrical performances and exhibitions, while several presentations of books by local and other authors have also taken place here, as well as weddings.
