Nadal Xalarina and Xalarí Gymkhana · The Great Christmas Festival

Xalarina and Xalarí want to throw a big Christmas party with their friends. They have made a list of everything they need to organise the party and make it super fun. But... Oh no! The list has been torn up and the wind has scattered all the items on the list around different establishments in the town. They have to redo the list somehow. Can you help them?

1. There are two treasure hunts, you can do one or both: Playa de Aro centre; and Castillo de Aro, S'Agaró and Parque de Aro.
2. Pick up the leaflets at the Tourist Office.
3. Look for Xalarí or Xalarina in the shop windows of participating establishments. Each Xalarina and Xalarí has a pictogram with one of the items on the list.
4. Mark the items you find. Please note: there are more pictograms than items.
5. In the treasure hunt in Castillo de Aro, S'Agaró and Parque de Aro, as well as finding the Xalarina and Xalarí, you will also have to answer some questions.
6. Take your completed treasure hunt to the Playa de Aro Tourist Office to receive your gift!

What are pictograms? They are drawings that represent and communicate a concept or object, because a picture is worth a thousand words. One of the main difficulties for people with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is communication and social interaction, so they often find it extremely difficult not only to understand the world around them, but also to express themselves. Many people with ASD are non-verbal, meaning they have not developed spoken language and communicate through augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems using images. ·The treasure hunt aims to raise awareness of these visual aids (pictograms) to facilitate communication for everyone and make the municipality a little more inclusive every day. *The pictograms used in the gymkhana are the property of ARASAAC (Aragonese Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication).
